HIDDEN JAM: What Could Have Been?

Today, I’m writing this post for my own selfish reasons and I need your help. I’ve had the pleasure of becoming closely acquainted with a local Chicago band in 2011. Zaius played two packed shows last April, right before guitarist Ian McConnell relocated to Los Angeles. And that was the end of Zaius.

Or so I thought.

McConnell fortunately flew back home for the holidays this past December and reunited with Jeremy Bellen (bassist), Daniel Dolce (guitarist) and Michael Imbordino (drummer), and Zaius booked a show last month at Cobra Lounge. I don’t know if they practiced extra hard or if I just missed their music or maybe it was the upgrade in venue (Don’t get mad if you’re reading this Zaius dudes, but your previous two shows were at dumpy dives), but there was something so special about this performance. The crowd loved them. The men on stage played with an effortless confidence. The music was tight, and I was inspired.

Then poof! McConnell was gone again. And this is where I need your help. I’m asking you to join in my plea to get these guys back together…for good. So much of today’s rock music is lacking in originality and creativity. And that is where Zaius excels. Just watch this clip below of their January performance, and you’ll see what I mean. And if you still don’t get it, here’s a link to a free download of their three-track EP: http://zaius.bandcamp.com.

I know if we bug them enough, they will listen! So please visit their Facebook page, and share your praises! Their talent is too great to let it go to waste. Three songs just isn’t enough. I want more! And if you agree, let them know. Bring Ian home!

I’ve also heard this band live and I REALLY loved them! I was actually shocked at how much I liked it. My friend dragged me to the show and I was really glad she did. :) I was super disappointed that night to find out that the band was breaking up! So bring that long haired dude back from Cali and make more beautiful music!!!

Wow! What a good friend to have dragged you to see this guys play! You should go to the band’s Facebook page, and tell the long-haired dude to get his booty back to Chicago!
